Since the beginning of IFLA’s International Advocacy Programme, librarians around the world have mobilised to raise awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and to show how libraries are partners for development.

IFLA’s IAP Updates give a more comprehensive view, but the 2018 World Library and Information Congress offered the opportunity to showcase just a few actions already carried out.

Great Ideas for Advocacy SessionThirteen speakers from different regions therefore shared just one idea each in order to inspire those in the audience. From serious games about the SDGs to using selfies to consolidate relations with contacts, and from the local to the international level, the examples given show the potential for library advocacy.

There are many other ideas out there, and the ideas presented are just a limited view of what is going on. Please do share your own actions and ideas with us on social media, using the #Lib4Dev hashtag, or by e-mail to DA2I@ifla.org
