Participants at the 2030 Agenda meeting in Cameroon

The Cameroon Association of Librarians, Archivists, Documentalists, Museographers (ABADCAM), in partnership with the United Nations Cameroon, held a press club on quality education, as one of the goals for sustainable development. The special event had participation from members of ABADCAM, information professionals of other sectors, civil society representatives, journalists, and representatives from universities. Special guests were, the Ministry of Arts and Culture, the James Baldwin Resource Centre of the US Embassy in Cameroon, and the Goethe Institute Yaounde. The event also actively engaged with a strong press representation and is a very good example of how the IFLA Toolkit on Libraries and the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda can be used to raise the profile of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in a national context.

The event brought together all stakeholders relevant for the successful implementation of the 2030 Agenda and by being organised by a library association, raised the importance of libraries and the access to information they provide to the relevant policy makers. IFLA strongly encourages libraries to initiate similar events and raise their profile on a national level.
