The International Advocacy Programme (IAP) Update is a compilation of awareness raising and advocacy activities carried out by the library community worldwide, in the effort to get libraries included in National Development Plans and the UN 2030 Agenda planning and implementation processes.

Participants from more than 75 countries have signed aggreements with IFLA to carry out awareness-raising and advocacy activities to show the important role libraries play in development. In addition to IAP participants, other countries have proactively joined, showing the growing interest of the library community in making this campaign even stronger!

The IAP Updates feature activities and plans related to Libraries, Development, and the UN 2030 Agenda since the IAP was launched in the last quarter of 2016. The documents are structured according to the four regions (Africa, Asia and Oceania, Europe, and Latin America and the Caribbean) where the six IFLA IAP Regional Workshops have taken place. Background

The IFLA IAP is a capacity-building programme designed to promote and support the role libraries can play in the planning and implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through the IAP, IFLA aims to establish an engaged community of advocates who will clearly articulate the significant opportunities to increase the profile and highlight the positive impact of library and information professionals in the achievement of the SDGs.
