Qatar National Library and the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Regional Center hosted at QNL present the first Scientific Applications in Cultural Heritage Forum: Doha 2021. 

The first edition of this forum will focus on pigments and dyes in manuscripts and heritage objects, and will include lectures and practical sessions on the most important spectroscopic techniques for noninvasive and non-destructive analysis, which has an impact on fundamental knowledge, interpretation and conservation.

The forum will also feature lectures on Arabic and Persian pigments and how they were made; the various dyestuffs used for Arabic manuscripts, the extraction methods and the dyeing processes; and conservation issues and deterioration processes encountered with pigments and dyes found in Islamic manuscripts.
