Regional IAP Meeting - The Hague, Netherlands

The European Regional Workshop of IFLA’s International Advocacy Programme (IAP)* will be held in The Hague, Netherlands, on 14-16 December 2016.

24 representatives from public libraries and library associations from 12 European countries will convene for two and half days to learn about the contribution libraries can make to the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The workshop will provide participants with the confidence and skills needed to develop an advocacy plan and organise awareness-raising sessions in their own countries in order to make sure libraries are included in National Development Plans.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The workshop will include a session on the European approach to the SDGs, and the European advocacy environment chaired by Hannah Gent, Project Officer at Public Libraries 2020.

The three previous IAP workshops took place in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia Oceania. See more details in the news piece

* IAP is a new IFLA capacity-building programme designed to promote and support the role libraries can play in the planning and implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. The IFLA IAP team aims to establish an engaged community of advocates who will clearly articulate the significant opportunities to increase the profile and impact of library and information professionals in the achievement of sustainable development goals.
